The WDCA - the local cricket comp !

The local Wangaratta & District Cricket Association (WDCA) caters for all levels of cricket in the North East of Victoria.

The Association is based in Wangaratta, but has a number of towns participating in varoius grades of competition which is played on Saturdays.

Beechworth, Bright, Corowa, Gapsted, Greta, Harrietville, Milawa, Myrtleford, Rutherglen, Wangaratta,  Whorouly & Yarrawonga.

A Grade - Turf wicket competition.

A Reserve - Mainly a turf wicket competition.

B Grade - Mainly hard wicket competition, occassional turf game.

C Grade - One Day competition on hard wickets, occassional turf game.

Under 16, Under 14 & Under 12's -

Are boys competitions played on Saturday mornings between 9.00 am & 11.30 am.

This book is all about the history of cricket in Albury / Wodonga. It has just been self published & released by local cricket identity, Joe Wooding. A great read it is available at the above locations.

Wet Weather !

WDCA cricket games which are cancelled due to wet weather or unsatisfactory playing conditions will be announced on Radio 1566 3NE and Wangaratta Public Radio OAKFM 101.3 an Saturday and for senior cricket only, a recorded message will be made available on the WDCA phone - 03 5721 2532 as well on the WDCA website.

The Australian Cricket National Club Insurance Program ("the Program"), arranged by JLT Sport, has been up and running for three years now. The joint initiative of Cricket Australia and its State Bodies has seen a number of benefits provided to cricket clubs throughout each state and territory. It is considered that every club now has access to insurance at an affordable and consistent price. The Program's goal is to provide sustainable insurance and a long term solution and peace of mind for this and future seasons.

The Program provides competitively broad protection across the following areas:

1. Personal Accident cover for Capital Benefits, Non Medicare Medical Expenses and Loss of Income
2. General Public & Products Liability (including Errors & Omissions - for coaches, umpires and managers only)
3. Club Management Liability (applicable only to incorporated clubs). If your club is not incorporated and you would like guidance in that regard, please contact your Association

The WDCA recognises that coaches and officials are the lifeblood of Australian sport and the backbone of many sporting organisations. They contribute their valuable time, effort and expertise in assisting participants to develop their skills and enjoy their sport.

A sport or club that recognises and supports these people has a better chance of recruiting and retaining them, given that most are volunteers.

Good coaching and officiating are essential components of any sporting organisation. They ensure that people have positive experiences and training and games run smoothly and safely. Participants are more likely to continue in sport if the experience is positive.
