Drought Not Out

One of the biggest casualties of the drought has been local sporting grounds - a meeting place for everyone in regional communities. Now ABC Rural and ABC Sport are offering your local sporting club the chance to 'drought proof' your future.

State and Territory winners of the Drought, Not Out competition will have the opportunity to apply for a grant of up to $10,000, and up to $50,000 for the national winner, courtesy of the Foundation for Rural & Regional Renewal.

All you have to do is tell us in 300 words or less why your club is the 'heart of your community'. You must provide photos and can submit entries via email, post, this pdf, or this form by January 28.

The winning entry, to be announced on March 2, will not only have their sporting ground 'drought-proofed', but will also host a community BBQ and concert featuring ABC Sport commentators and a live broadcast of The Country Hour.

Australians are unique in the way in which we come together to help those in times of disaster and those in need. Sport is a way of life for so many Australians, either through participation as a spectator watching your favourite team on the weekend.
