The local Wangaratta & District Cricket Association (WDCA) caters for all levels of cricket in the North East of Victoria. The Association is based in Wangaratta, but has a number of towns participating in various grades of competition which is played on Saturdays. Local North East Victorian towns represented in the WDCA are - Beechworth, Bright, Corowa, Gapsted, Greta, Harrietville, Milawa, Myrtleford, Rutherglen, Wangaratta, Whorouly & Yarrawonga. The WDCA has the following competitions - A Grade - Turf wicket competition. B. Grade - Mainly a turf wicket competition. C Grade - One Day competition on hard wickets, occassional turf game. Under 16's, 14's & 12's - played on Saturday mornings between 9.00 am & 11.30 am. Club based & run Milo - In2 cricket (boys and girls aged 5-10 years old). They contribute their valuable time, effort and expertise in assisting participants to develop their skills and enjoy their sport. A sport or club that recognises and supports these people has a better chance of recruiting and retaining them, given that most are volunteers. Good coaching and officiating are essential components of any sporting organisation. They ensure that people have positive experiences and training and games run smoothly and safely. Participants are more likely to continue in sport if the experience is positive.
